Field Trip

Middle Pennsylvanian Boggy Formation From Stratigraphic Sequence To Facies Architecture – Implications For Reservoir Quality Distribution

Date: Saturday, Oct. 3, 7:00 am-5:00 pm
Leader: Dennis R. Kerr, Associate Professor of Geoscience, Department of Geosciences, The University of Tulsa
Fee: $100 for professionals, $35 for students (35 participants maximum; space for students is limited)
Includes: transportation, field guide, lunch & snacks
Departs from 2nd street entrance, Hyatt Regency Downtown Tulsa

Participants will visit outcrop exposures of the Bluejacket Sandstone (Bartlesville equivalent) and middle Boggy sandstones (Red Fork equivalent) from the Lake Eufaula region to the Pryor– Claremore area of Oklahoma. Observations made at outcrop are related to reservoir-scale correlation and reservoir quality distribution in the nearby subsurface stratigraphic intervals, which have been significant petroleum producing intervals in the Mid-Continent region.
