Fellow geoscientists,

eck-tobyOn behalf of the Mid-Continent Section of the AAPG, the Kansas Geological Society, and the Kansas Geological Foundation, it is my honor to welcome you to Wichita for the 2019 Mid-Continent Section Meeting.

The oil and gas industry continues to evolve with the combination of new technology and advances in our understanding of complex reservoirs and petroleum systems. As geologists, we understand that technology alone cannot meet the world’s demand for oil and gas. It will take a continued effort to better understand and apply the fundamentals of petroleum geology and the business of oil and gas in order to adequately apply new technologies in a profitable and responsible manner. The 2019 Mid-Continent Section Meeting will focus on the integration of petroleum geology, business and finance, and new technologies going forward.

We have a great lineup of oral and poster presentations, a two-day, pre-convention Mississippian outcrop field trip with a complimenting core workshop, and several excellent workshops/short courses led by some of the best the Mid-Continent has to offer.

There will be plenty of networking opportunities to take advantage of including a Sunday evening ice breaker, Monday All-Convention Luncheon, Monday evening gathering, and Tuesday DPA Luncheon. You won’t want to miss these opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new contacts.

The exhibit hall will be packed with companies showing off their newest ideas and technologies. Enjoy browsing in between talks, luncheons, and social events.

Lastly, I want to extend a sincere thank you to the Organizing Committee for this event. Without their hours of hard work, this event would not be possible. Please let them all know how much you appreciate the hours they’ve volunteered for this meeting. We’re looking forward to hosting this event!

Regards,
Toby Eck, General Chair
